Life Advice from ShackNews

“There’s a GOGOGO switch in everybody. Most people don’t have control of theirs, especially not in their twenties. Usually, that comes with kids, or true hardship.

You need to break that switch. Roll out of bed in the morning and ROAR and rush through every thing that is thrown at you and at the end of the day collapse in blissful exhaustion. An epicurean existence is a fantastic thing, but it’s not an end in itself. You gotta have control of that switch. You’ve got to be able to charge into misery, leap flames, and stick your dick in almost anything to get the highlander prize, whatever it is to you. (hopefully it isn’t a gay sports car, because then you will have like 5 more movies to go through)

Doesn’t mean the switch always has to be flipped, that’s how you end up with a heart attack in your 40’s and 3 ex wives. But you definitely need total control over it so that you can blitz when the chips are down and you can obliterate things like this bullshit English thing you have to do. Life is not entirely about fun.

Life is about screaming gleeful defiance into the crashing wave of time before the sea of eternity sweeps you away into nothing. Because we are infinitely lucky we weren’t rocks, or hydrogen atoms spread across an inconceivable vastness. Because we’re stupid, irrelevant and stubborn. Because we are grit in the eye of God.

So quit being a pussy and do your fucking homework.”

How I Met Alice

Stolen from Trish… perfect for Alice’s and my 18th monthiversary. <3

1. Where did you meet?
I went with Ryan to meet a few of his then-girlfriend’s friends. After we pulled up and introduced ourselves to the three strange girls standing on the lawn, the first thing I did was poke Ryan and whisper, “Man… Alice is cute!” He looked at me and nodded solemnly.

2. What was the first thought that went through your head when you met?
“Man… Alice is cute!”

3. Do you remember what they were wearing?
I remember that she was wearing jeans (there was an ass contest), but not what shirt she was wearing. I’m going to take a wild guess on her Doors t-shirt. :D

4. Where was the first time you kissed this person?
The kitchen in my parents’ house, after I took her to see a night of pageant training in SF.

5. How did he/she ask you out?
She didn’t… and I didn’t either! The following Sunday (the kiss was on Wednesday night) in the car with a couple of friends, we kind of looked at each other and said “Hey… we’re probably dating now, aren’t we?” Y’know, since we’d been sleeping together and all. XD

6. Where did you go for your first date?
Dave and Buster’s for Rosa’s surprise welcome home from Japan party.

7.How long did you know this person before you became a couple?
Technically… what, a month and a half? I’d only seen her three times before, though. :D

8. Has this person ever proposed to you?
No… she claims we aren’t married. :P

9. Do you and this person have kids together?
Not yet.

10. Have you ever broken the law with this person?
Nothing big… speeding?

11. When was the first time you realized that you liked this person?
Pretty much the first night I met her. I wouldn’t have done anything about it, though, if it hadn’t been for Ryan’s and Danielle’s meddling….

12. Do you get along with any of the ex’s of your partners?
Apparently. XD

13. Do you trust him/her?
As much as I trust anybody….

14. Do you see your partner in your future?
Yes. :)

15. Whats the most expensive thing this person has given you?
Expensive… I think a season of House DVDs takes the prize, but I’m not sure. She’s a poor college student. :) Although she tried to get me a $150 cowboy hat for Christmas!

16. What is one thing he/she does that gets on your nerves?
Not like being submissive in bed. XD

17. What is the thing you do that gets on his/her nerves?
Pretend to be sad/hurt/angry/offended by something she says!

18. Where do you see each other in 15 years from now?
In a beautiful house with our kids… her going off every day to do big, important physics research, me staying at home writing, taking care of the kids, and working on my 47 project cars and motorcycles (it’ll be okay, because we’ll have 48 pets).

19. Will this person repost this?
Probably! :D
